My sweet Ladybird, we admittedly got off to a rocky start. I met you my freshman term in vet tech school. You were having a hard time trusting humans and were a bit bitey, and I was quite frankly a bit frightened. But you were my assigned dog to enrich, and we had a really tough start. Then one day, things shifted. Trust on both sides was earned. And there was no turning back, I knew you were my girl and adopted you.
We’ve been through a lot over the last nearly 13 years. You were about 4 when we met, so I hope these dozen years and change were filled with so much love and joy that you missed out on the first few years of your life before we knew each other.
Those husky hops you did on walks when we first brought you home were so cute. You exuded joy and never met a human you didn’t want to give big kisses to. You were love, and are so loved.
Forever isn’t what we are given on this earth, but this bond of love, that’s forever. And I hope you are waiting for me when I get there. I could use a Ladybird snuggle.
